Happy spring equinox 🌸 What better way to celebrate Pi(e) Day then with a few of our favorite places to get some 🥧 right out on the trail? Murals depicting canal life in the 19th and early 20th century are common in Western and Central New York, bringing history to life 🎨 ⚠️ TRAIL ALERT / GERMAN FLATTS ⚠️ The trail will be closed from the South Washington Street Bridge eastward (~1 mile) to the Route 5S Parking Area.  Repairs to the canal bank and trail will be taking place in this area.  Work is scheduled to start February 27 and run through May 31, 2023. When you have a bridge all to yourself separated from vehicle traffic 🤤 Update: Work is expected to be completed and the bridge re-opened to pedestrians and cyclists on March 3, 2023. It's been a strange winter so far, but the trail looks beautiful through it all ❄️ The FEBRUARY 15 Challenge is underway, and a great way to rack up miles is by heading out on the trail! During this special winter 15-mile challenge, log miles anywhere in the @ErieCanalway National Heritage Corridor by February 28 to earn your badge. Save the date! 🗓️ Spring will be here before we know it 🌱 so make sure you put Canal Clean Sweep, New York's biggest Earth Day celebration, on your calendar.
